Ruth Kestenbaum Ben-Dov is an American-born Israeli painter whose work expresses the complicated relationships between peoples, landscapes, the body, traditional Jewish prayers and texts, and personal identity. From her studio in a Jewish town in the Galilee region neighboring many Arab villages, she explores the meeting of fascinating and complex physical and human landscapes – biography, land, history, religion and culture. Ruth Kestenbaum Ben-Dov’s most recent solo exhibition is currently on view at the Umm el Fahem Museum of Art, which was recently recognized as Israel’s first art museum in an Arab town.
