| Mitzvah Day
Temple Sinai’s 5th annual Mitzvah Day will take place on Sunday, April 29, 2007. Many of this year's projects are old favorites, and include visiting seniors at nearby residences and preparing meals for the Ronald McDonald House and the Anna Bissonnette House (a residence for formerly homeless seniors). We'll also be sprucing up the Esplanade and helping with yard work and other tasks at the Animal Rescue League of Boston. Mitzvah Day is an opportunity to put into practice the Jewish tradition of tikkun olam (repairing the world). It's fun and satisfying to work with other members of the Sinai community on projects that really make a difference.
Another part of Mitzvah Day is a collection drive. This year’s drive, like last year's, will be for Birthday Wishes, a local non-profit organization that holds birthday parties for children in homeless shelters. We will collect various items, such as small toys, stickers, and candy, that are appropriate for use at these parties. On Mitzvah Day itself, one of the projects will be create goodie bags filled with these items.
