Dr. Robert Weintraub, Headmaster at Brookline High School speaking at Erev Shabbat Services, Friday, January 22 at 7:30 pm, to open “Rainbow Weekend” at Temple Sinai, Brookline:
Temple Sinai invites the community to its Rainbow Weekend, January 22-January 24, 2010. On Friday, January 22, at 7:30 pm, Dr. Robert Weintraub, headmaster at Brookline High School, will deliver the d’var torah at Erev Shabbat services. Dr. Weintraub, who has worked to establish a culture of deep respect for GLBT students at Brookline High School, will speak on the topic “A New Generation’s Attitudes Toward Sexual Identity.” Rainbow Weekend continues at 11 am on Sunday morning, January 24, with a panel discussion on the topic, “Transgender Issues in the Jewish Community.” Rabbi Karen Landy will chair the discussion, co-sponsored by Keshet, Boston’s GLBT support and education organization. All are welcome.
On Friday, January 29 at 6:45, following “Shabbat @ Six!” services, Temple Sinai invites the community to join in celebrating the ancient Jewish “new year for trees” with a festive, creative Seder for Tu B’Shevat.
