Greeter Guidelines Thank you for serving as a Shabbat service Greeter. Temple Sinai’s tradition is to have a volunteer to welcome members and non-members to services and to our community. The primary responsibility of the greeter is to be friendly!

Arrival: Please arrive at the service 15 minutes before it is scheduled to begin. In the Bridal Room (the room to the right as you enter the building from the front steps) there is a small box of name tags which say, “Welcome.” Please wear one of these tags while you are serving as Greeter and return it to the container at the end of the service.

When worshipers arrive, most greeters hand them a Friday night program as a way to greet them. There are prayer books in the pews, but you may need to provide extra books (located on the tables behind the last pew) if asked.

Handicap Elevator: The Temple has a handicapped lift which can be reached from the outside of the building from a ramp to the right of the front steps to the Temple. The lift will stop at the outside entrance, Ehrenfried Hall, and sanctuary levels of the building. Key access is needed both at the call stations on each of the three floors and also inside the elevator. Keys have been given to most of the congregation members who need the lift on a regular basis. For worshipers not familiar with the lift, there is a sign which indicates that handicapped lift users should contact the Greeter for help. We are still working to improve this method. If you are asked to help with the lift, there is an elevator key and instructions in the same basket that contains the Greeter name tags . If you need further help with the elevator, you may need to contact a member of the congregation familiar with it. Jeremy Wolfe and Sandy Ostroy know the most about the elevator operation.

Assistive Listening Devices: The Temple owns four Assistive Listening Devices, which are occasionally used in the sanctuary by those with hearing problems. If you are asked for one, you can find the devices in a marked box in the Bridal Room. Please make sure the Assistive Listening Devices are returned to the Bridal Room at the end of the service.

Enjoy the service!
