| “Judaism & the Environment: Perspectives of a Rabbi & an Ecologist"
Temple Sinai, Brookline offers free, three-session Sunday morning course “Judaism & the Environment: Perspectives of a Rabbi & an Ecologist” for adults starting Sunday, January 27:
Science helps us to understand the causes and dimensions of the problems that the earth faces; religion urges us to accept our obligations toward it. Starting on Sunday, January 27, Temple Sinai begins a new class “Judaism & the Environment: Perspectives of a Rabbi & an Ecologist,” taught by Dr. Dan L. Perlman, chair of environmental studies at Brandeis University, and Temple Sinai’s Rabbi Andy Vogel. In this class, Dr. Perlman will present the science of current issues of global warming, biodiversity, and evolutionary biology, and Rabbi Vogel will explore Jewish texts on the same or similar topics. Here, science and religion mix, and often agree, but most important, create lively dialogue and discussion around our duty to protect the earth. The class will meet on three Sunday mornings, January 27, February 3 and February 10, from 11:00 am-12:30 pm.
Temple Sinai is located at Sewall and Charles Street, one block southeast of the Coolidge Corner “T” stop. There is no deadline for registration. To register, please call the Temple Sinai office at 617-277-5888. Temple Sinai is handicapped accessible. |
