Mitzvah Day 2007 Temple Sinai’s 5th annual Mitzvah Day took place on April 29, 2007. Many of this year's projects were old favorites, such as visiting seniors at nearby residences and preparing meals for the Ronald McDonald House and the Anna Bissonnette House (a residence for formerly homeless seniors). A new project his year was assisting with yard work and other tasks at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, and getting to visit with some of the animals. Mitzvah Day is an opportunity to put into practice the Jewish tradition of tikkun olam (repairing the world). It's fun and satisfying to work with other members of the Sinai community on projects that really make a difference.

Another part of Mitzvah Day is a collection drive. This year’s drive, like last year's, was for Birthday Wishes, a local non-profit organization that holds birthday parties for children in homeless shelters. We will collect various items, such as small toys, stickers, and candy, that are appropriate for use at these parties. On Mitzvah Day itself, one of the projects was to create goodie bags filled with these items.

We've almost begun to take it for granted that each year's Mitzvah Day will be a big success, and 2007 was no exception. But we don't take for granted the energy, hard work, and enthusiasm of all the participants who make it possible.
