SCOOBY
SCOOBY, Temple Sinai’s youth group, gives Jewish teens a way to connect with one another in a social and informal educational setting. Students from Grades 8 through 12 are welcome (and encouraged!) to come to the monthly programs that we offer throughout the school year. Membership includes free entrance to the first event of the school year, as well as dues to the region of which we are a member. Please use the link below to download an application to become a member of SCOOBY today! (SCOOBY, by the way, is an acronym for “Sinai Congregation of Outer Boston Youth”).
Our monthly programs include
social events (such as snow tubing or watching Patriots games), social action projects (volunteering at “Cradles 2 Crayons” or collecting food items to donate to local organizations), and educational and religious events (creative Shabbat services or interfaith seders). All of our programs combine some learning with a whole lot of fun!
SCOOBY is part of a national organization, the North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY), and is a member of the Northeast Region. SCOOBY also participates in many NFTY-Northeast events such as dances, overnight gatherings known as “shul-in’s”, weekend-long programs at other synagogues known as “conclavettes”, and 5-day events at Eisner Camp known as “institutes”. All of these gatherings include Jewish teens from all over New England who come together in a social setting to learn a thing or two about being Jewish in today’s world.
So grab a few friends and check out SCOOBY! For more information, please contact SCOOBY Advisor Rebekah Goldman at youtheducator@sinaibrookline.org .
